Sussex · Est. 2014 · The South of England's No.1 Golf Tour Operator

You picked Sussex.
Good. Now let us
do the rest.

01 The Premise

A round of golf
should begin at the first tee -
not at Gatwick arrivals.

Golfer mid-swing at a Sussex tee
Feature № 01, The First Tee

You're on a plane from Chicago, Dubai or Frankfurt. You've booked four of your mates. You want to play the South Downs, the Weald and the cliff-top links. You also want to be hungover on Wednesday and fine by Thursday's 08:30 tee time.

We are the only people in Sussex who do this, properly, at scale, and have done since 2014. Aggregators sell you a hotel and a tee time and wish you luck on the A27. We own the Mercedes fleet, hold the general managers' mobile numbers, and have delivered 1,847 tours without missing a starter slot.

"We don't sell golf holidays. We run a small fleet of black Mercedes and a black book of general managers who answer on the first ring."

Small groups. Four to sixteen. One point of contact from the day you enquire to the moment we put you back on the plane. The most-booked private golf tour operator in the South of England, and there is a reason for that.

04 The Short List

Eight courses
we've played enough times
to recommend without caveat.

№ 01

East Sussex National · East Course

Uckfield · Parkland · Par 72

A 7,081-yard stadium layout by Bob Cupp that hosted the European Open twice. The signature "amphitheatre" finishing holes around the clubhouse lake make for a memorable back nine.

№ 02

Rye Golf Club, The Old Course

Camber · True Links · Par 68

Sussex's only genuine links. Fierce cross-winds, penal rough, and the kind of 3-pars that will cost you a box of Pro V1s. Home of the Rye Foursomes since 1920.

6,325 ydyardage
1894founded
№ 03

The Goodwood Downs

Chichester · Downland · Par 72

Sweeping chalk-downs views of the South Downs and Chichester Cathedral. Tricky doglegs and greens that punish long approach shots.

6,530 ydyardage
4★green fee tier
№ 04

Royal Ashdown Forest, Old Course

Forest Row · Heathland · Par 72

The course with no bunkers. Yes, really, and you won't miss them. Heather, bracken and streams do all the work, and do it beautifully.

6,535 ydyardage
1888founded
№ 05

West Sussex Golf Club

Pulborough · Heathland · Par 68

A Top 100 UK heathland with three par-3s on the back nine that Bernard Darwin called "unimprovable". We tend to agree.

6,221 ydyardage
Top 100UK ranking
№ 06

Mannings Heath · Waterfall

Horsham · Parkland · Par 73

A Harry Colt original from 1905 with two of the most photographed par-3s in Sussex.

№ 07

Cowdray Park

Midhurst · Parkland · Par 72

Polo ponies on one side, 18th-century ruins on the other. A rare atmosphere.

№ 08

Cooden Beach

Bexhill · Coastal · Par 71

Sea-links feel, parkland price. The sunset round is genuinely something.

№ 09

Chapter 05 · The Difference

Most operators
arrange everything
except the one thing
that actually matters.

Ask a standard golf travel company how you get from the hotel to the 10:24 tee time at West Sussex. The answer is almost always a shrug and a rental car.

We own the fleet. A driver, in a black Mercedes V-Class or E-Class, collects you at arrivals, again at the hotel, at the club. Bags stay on the same vehicle. The driver knows every back road in both counties, has a contingency for roadworks on the A27, and carries spare tees, sunscreen, and if it's October, umbrellas.

No driving on the wrong side

Your lot left-hand-drive, so do we.

Bag security & handling

In and out of the boot. Once.

Post-round pub, no DD rota

A pint at the 19th and we'll get you home.

Chapter 06 · After the Round

The 19th
is arguably more important
than the other 18.

A Sussex golf tour does not end when the last putt drops. We book the dinner, the cab back, the cheese board at the pub, the Sunday roast in a 15th-century flint cottage. The hard part is convincing you to leave.

  • Private dining at The Goodwood
  • Whisky flight · Mermaid, Rye
  • Sussex sparkling at Rathfinny Estate
  • Michelin lunch · Gravetye Manor
  • Spa access for non-golfing partners
  • Harbour cruise · Chichester

  • Seafood supper · The Little Fish Market

Chapter 06½ · The Human

You deal with one person.
Not a call centre.

That's me, aged eight months, already plotting my first round at Royal Ashdown. Mum said the rabbit ears were non-negotiable.

Fast-forward thirty-nine years. I founded The Sussex Golfer in 2014 after twenty-two years as a member at Royal Ashdown Forest and four years running ops for an American tour group that I eventually bought out. I've played every course on our short-list at least a hundred times. I know which starter will shuffle your group forward if you're polite, and which will not.

When you email, I reply. When you call, I answer, or one of the three people who work with me does. We don't have a call centre because we don't need one. We run forty tours a year, maximum, and I'm on the ground for every single one.

That is why groups come back. That is why Medinah, Winged Foot and three of the top ten US hedge funds put us in their phones and not their bookmarks. If you're the sort of person who wants a named human on the other end of this transaction, you're in the right place. A more dignified photograph is available on request.

What four
return groups said
we got right.

The Downsman · Oct 2025 · Party of 8
Michael didn't just drive. He reminded us to leave on time, booked a better pub than the one we'd chosen, and knew exactly which member of Rye's starter team to ask for. Wouldn't go back to DIY.
David Halpern· Returning client, Chicago
Corporate Day · Jul 2025 · Party of 14
Hedge fund partners + golf + a schedule = usually a disaster. Not this one. Shotgun start at 09:00, on the train home by six, fourteen signed scorecards. A proper operation.
Ines Ferreira· EA, London hedge fund
The Sea Air · Mar 2025 · Party of 6
We came for Rye. We left ranking East Dean in our top 10 ever played. Also the hotel. Also the supper. Also: can you do the same for next March please?
Angus McLeod· Glasgow

Intermission · Just before the off

and an entire week ahead.
